WEEK 1

SPOT NEWS/GENERAL NEWS Assignment 
1. Shoot images. Images can be SPOT NEWS images and/or GENERAL NEWS images (go to      
    "Glossary" page for more details on what this entails.
2a. Pick your top 5 and email them to photoj105@gmail.com.
  b. Label images with your name
  c. Images should be 72dpi, 1200 pix on the long side, compression 8-10, jpg. If you do not know how to convert your image, do no worry for this week. We will go over how to convert images in class.

4. Watch the documentary Witness: Juarez (20 minutes long) and answer the questionnaire. Both files are sitting in Temp Storage (1) > PHOTOJ105. You will need to watch it on VLC player. If you watch this at school, all computers have this. If you are watching on your own computer you may need to download the software.

WEEK 2

SPOT NEWS/GENERAL NEWS assignment from Week 1

1. If you were not able to shoot the first week, complete the News shoot assignment (see Week 1).
2a. Pick your top 5 and email them to photoj105@gmail.com.
  b. Label images with your name.
  c. Images should be 72dpi, 1200 pix on the long side, compression 8-10, jpg. If you do not know how to convert your image, do not worry for this week. We will go over this at a later date in class.

Research and prepare for your North Hollywood shoot next week.
3. Reasearch as necessary the angle/story you want to shoot in North Hollywood next week.
4. Make calls, coordinate as necessary.
5. Have a Plan B if you think you need one.

IF YOU MISSED CLASS, then you will also need to:

7. Look through the Powerpoint on North Hollywood. (It will probably help to look up "North Hollywood" in wikipedia and then look at the images) As you have missed my blabbing next to the images this may not make too much sense. In general it covers the history of North Hollywood and then also places of notoriety and interest. This is just to give you a starting point to think about what you would like to shoot next week. You will be using class time to shoot a short series (3-5 images) on a topic/story of your choice having to do with North Hollywood. Please download and answer this questionnaire PRIOR to coming to class on Thursday. Even if you don't know North Hollywood that well, start with your interests - for example, if you interest is in music, maybe do a short piece on a Record Store in North Hollywood.

WEEK 3

NORTH HOLLYWOOD ASSIGNMENT

1. From your shoot, pick 5 images that illustrate the story you decided to tell. PLEASE NOTE: When editing images only minimal adjustments for exposure should be made. No heavy manipulation.
2. If you are able, convert images to 72dpi, 1200pix on the long side, compression 8-10.
3. Write a caption for each image. (This can be in a separate word doc)
4. Answer the questionnaire.
5. Bring images on a drive to class. (No need to email the images this time)

WEEK 4

SPORTS ACTION/SPORTS FEATURE ASSIGNMENT

1. Shoot images pertaining to Sports Action or Sports Feature.
2. From your shoot, pick your top 5 images.
3. If you are able, convert images to 72dpi, 1200 pix on the long side, compresssion 8-10.
4. Bring images on a drive to class. (No need to email the images this time)

2. From your shoot, pick your top 5 images.
3. If you are able, convert images to 72dpi, 1200 pix on the long side, compresssion 8-10.
4. Bring images on a drive to class. (No need to email the images this time)

WEEK 6

ENVIRONMENTAL PORTRAIT ASSIGNMENT

1. Shoot an environmental portrait of an individual as well as a group.
2. From your shoot, pick your top 5 images.
3. Convert images to 72dpi, 1200 pix on the long side, compresssion 8-10, jpg. Watch tutorial.
4. Bring images on a drive to class. (No need to email the images this time)

WRITE CAPTIONS FOR ALL YOUR IMAGES ON TUMBLR

6. Compile all captions/titles in either an email of word doc and email or bring them to class.

All images will be uploaded to Tumblr by SATURDAY MORNING.

1. Download and look over the guidelines and requirements for your final multimedia project here.
2. Conduct any research and or test shooting related to your project. Be prepared to share your research in class next week. YOU MUST BE DECIDED on your subject matter by next week (Week 8).

WEEK 8 + 9

FINAL MULTIMEDIA PROJECT PRODUCTION PHASE

1. Download and look over the guidelines and requirements for your final multimedia project here.
2. WEEK 8 - shoot/record all necessary footage (audio and video and stills) this week
3. WEEK 9 - begin plugging in your footage into your editing software of choice.

BY WEEK 10 when we meet again you should have all your footage logged and have played a little around with your editing software.
